Structure Your Articles For Maximum Impact

"Making Money Online Was Never So EASY!"

Writing articles is one of the best ways to promote your service or product since it establishes you as an expert in the field and you can get hundreds, if not thousands of links back to your website. But not all articles are created equal. In order to get the maximum benefit from your article writing they should have a consistent layout and structure. Follow these tips to give structure to your content and your articles will have a much bigger impact and stand a better chance of getting published.

For people whose literate capabilities extend to that last school essay that they handed in with a sigh of relief, writing an article is a daunting task and the end result often looks like a wasteland of grey text. A good article is written in such a way that it pulls the reader in and guides him through the content.  Conforming to a standard format also makes it easier for article directories and sites that publish content to pick up your article and publish it. It also contributes to a professional image of you, the writer.

Here are the components of an article and how you should use each one for maximum benefit.

~ Title ~
The title of your article, like the title of your website, is probably the most important part of your article. And, much like the title of your website, you are writing for both the search engines as well as human beings. For the sake of the search engines, include your main keyword or keyword phrase in the title. For the sake of your reader, you have to create a title that will “pull the reader in”. In other words, your title must persuade the reader to read the rest of your article.

But here is a tip from Chris Knight of EzineArticles – do not start your title with:
“7 tips for …”
or
“5 ways to …”
The first 3 or 4 words are the most important, and by doing this you are wasting important space! Rather use your keyword or keyword phrase at the beginning, followed by the number or ways, or tips that you are going to discuss.
For example: Organize your office: 7 tips for never losing that $1000 check again

Another tip for coming up with a killer title is to use some of the headline making software that helps you come up with compelling headlines for your sales letters, like Headline Creator Pro. While you might not actually use the headlines it suggests, you will quickly have a list of 100 headlines to play around with and modify. Just be careful though of not loading your title with too much hype – you are, after all, writing an article and not a sales letter!

~ Summary or Introduction ~
The summary, or description, of your article is often overlooked. This might be the only piece of text that will be displayed when your article shows up in an article directory. Sometimes you have the option of submitting the summary separately, other times the article directory software simply takes the first paragraph or so of your article. I suggest that you focus on the first paragraph of your article to provide you with your summary and introduction at the same time.

Like the title, it should create curiosity in the mind of your reader to entice them to read further. Please remember that a good article tries to solve some problem for the reader – try and describe what problem THIS article will solve. Describing the problem by means of a story or example help to make it real in your reader’s mind. A personal example also helps to establish you, the writer, as a real person and creates a rapport with your reader.

~ Body ~
The body of your article will bring across your main solution to the problem that you have sketched in the mind of your reader in your summary and introduction. Please remember to stick to ONE topic! It is very tempting to branch off into different directions, especially if you are enthusiastic about your area of expertise. If you find that you are wandering off into other areas, even if they are related to your main topic, consider saving that information in a scratch pad and make another article out of the material.

DO use bullet points or subheadings to break up your article. Bullets and headings catch the eye and once more pull the reader into the text. But some article directories do not allow HTML code or other formatting inside your body. My suggestion is that you write for ‘text only’ as a standard. Simulate bullets and headings by making use of numbers, capitals, or a special character, like the tilde (~), or star (*).

~ Ending ~
The ending should summarise the reasons why the article solves the problem stated in the title and the introduction. Try and end with an interesting point or final quote, to invite readers to further investigate the topic.

~ Resource box ~
The resource box is the place to write a mini-ad for your site, service or product. You can send people directly to an affiliate link here, or direct them to your site. Try to make the link contain your major keyword or keyword phrase, for maximum ‘backlink’ benefit – if you can.

If you follow this simple layout structure (obviously combined with great content!) for your articles you will find that
-         more article directories will accept your articles for submission
-         you present a professional image that instills confidence in your reader
-         your articles will get published on more websites, leading to more traffic

Follow these guidelines and your articles will get the exposure they deserve!

Writing And Submitting Articles

"Making Money Online Was Never So EASY!"

Writing and submitting articles to the Internet to promote your online business is one of the most effective and time-tested means of advertising. The other great thing about articles is that they are almost always a low-cost, if not free way to go.

And, whereas other methods of advertisement offer little more than the sales-pitch, writing and submitting articles provides the target audience with either information or entertainment, sometimes both. There are certain things you will want to know about how to write and submit articles effectively.

The first thing you must remember is to keep the articles short. No standard article should be more than about 500 words, or your audience will lose interest. Also, keep in mind that some of the people in your target audience may already have knowledge on the subject of your article, so be sure to research carefully and include only the most accurate and informative information.

If you’re going to write and submit articles on the Internet to advertise your business, you want to sound like an expert in your field. This establishes a sense of trust and builds your reputation with consumers. That being said, you should make sure, before submission, that your articles are properly formatted. Be sure to spell check and reread the articles to make sure you didn’t leave any important information out. Make sure a link back to your site is included somewhere in every article. If you can’t fit it into the text, put the link in the resource box at the end of the article.

Article submission sites such as EzineArticles will not allow links in text or affiliate links in the resource box. GoArticles, however, is my personal preference for article submissions because it allows almost anything. Text links inside the article, if you use a site that allows them, will produce a far greater click-through rate in my experience. That is essentially why I submit a high percentage of my article through GoArticles. Just remember to use the target keyword phrase for your text link and keep it to one link in the text and one link in the resource box and you will see results.

When you get ready to submit your articles, you have many options. One way you can send out your articles is through e-mail. Send them to everyone on your opt-in list, and encourage them to pass the articles on to others. Also, publish a rewritten version of the articles on your own website. You want the articles to boost the rankings of your site with search engines, so be sure to include good keywords in them.

You can also submit your articles to article submission sites, and these are great. You send them all your articles, and they blast them out to perhaps hundreds of different websites. Some of the submission options are free, and some carry a cost, but either way there is no better method for distributing your work so widely.

Writing and submitting articles is not a one-time event. Sure, you can do this once and you may see results. But the more articles you write and submit, the better your chances are for building a solid reputation in your market. The better your reputation, the better your chances are for success as an online business.

Article Titles Are Extremely Important.

"Making Money Online Was Never So EASY!"

Did you know that many publishers have formatting requirements for titles in their article submission guidelines, and if your article violates those guidelines it can be declined?

Yes, even if your article is superb, it can still be declined for a silly formatting error in the title.

Titles are amazingly important!

Are you spending enough time on your titles? Most likely you spend serious amounts of energy on your articles, but are you throwing together a title at the last minute and thinking that it doesn’t make any difference?

Well, it does.

The formatting guidelines of publishers are also in place to help your article look its best and get the most attention possible. If you abide by these title rules, you have a better chance of your article getting picked up for publication, and you create the best chance possible of attracting the attention of your target readers.

Below are 5 of the most common formatting requirements for titles:

1 – Put Your Title In Title Case.

This means that the first letter of every major word should be capitalized. You may also capitalize common words such as “the”, “to”, “a”, and “for”, but that is optional. DO NOT USE ALL CAPS IN YOUR TITLE. And do not capitalize only the first letter of the first word of your title. Rather, capitalize the first letter of each major word.

2 – Use Proper Spelling and Grammar in Your Title.

If you have grammar and/or spelling errors in the title, it leads the publisher and reader to believe that the rest of the article may also be low quality. Your title must be properly written. Any mistakes in an article title can lead to an immediate decline.

For example:

Incorrect grammar: How To Choose A Article Distribution Service

Correct grammar: How To Choose An Article Distribution Service

If you are targeting keyword phrases and one of your key phrases has a grammar or spelling error in it, then don’t use it, especially not in your title!

3 – Your Title Must be at Least 2 Words Long.

The purpose of your title is to tell the reader what your article is about, and one-word titles don’t offer much help. Many publishers require that your title be no shorter than 2 words. Ideally your title should be long enough to indicate the specific topic of your article.

For example:

A too short title: Cars

Better title: Top 5 Family Friendly Fuel Efficient Cars

4 – Your Title Should Not be Enclosed in Quotes.

Just type your title in the title field–there is no need to put quotation marks around the title.

5 – Your Title Should Not Have a Period at the End.

There is a theory that a period at the end of a title serves as a mental stop to the reader and can deter them from reading further into your article. Whether or not that is the case, many publishers consider a period at the end of a title to be bad form and will decline articles on this basis.

Have you committed any of these title formatting mistakes? What changes will you make to your next article title so that they fulfill these common article submission guidelines?

Take Your Article Marketing To The Next Level.

"Making Money Online Was Never So EASY!"

Because Traditional Article Marketing Just Doesn’t Cut It Anymore…

High-Profile Content Syndication is a little bit of a twist on article marketing. It takes traditional article marketing one step further. But the results that you can get from it are exponential – allowing you to easily generate 10 times more traffic than traditional article marketing. And you do this by submitting your articles to high-profile websites, blogs, and newsletters online.

So, for example, if you have a blog about sports, you could submit your articles to

This is one of the most popular sports websites online.

If you have a website about parenting, you could submit articles to

If you have a website about finance, you could submit articles to

which is one of the top 100 blogs online according to Technorati. Other popular finance sites where you can either submit articles or guest posts include:

If you’re in the health and fitness market, you can submit articles to

(all of which get hundreds of thousands of visitors every month.)

If you have a website about Internet Marketing, then you can submit your articles to sites like

No matter what market you’re in, there are very popular websites that you could be submitting articles to for massive traffic.

So if you’re already doing traditional article marketing and submitting your articles to places like EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com then great. But just take that a step further by syndicating your articles to these high-profile websites and you’ll quickly see a dramatic increase in your traffic.

Cool Tip: Whenever you’re paying for advertising on another website, whether it be banner ads or text links or solo ads or whatever…. one of the best things you can do to make your paid advertising even more effective is to create integrated advertising deals.

So want you want to do is work out a deal where not only do they display your banner, but in addition they also publish your content on their blog. This is EXTREMELY powerful and I highly recommend that you start working out these sorts of customized deals.

You’re going to get a lot more exposure and traffic from the content integration. Plus, the synergy of these two is even more powerful than either one by itself.
